Onwards to the next unsettling act!

After finishing my initial card pool I turned all my attention to fleshing out the game’s encounters. While the game is fully playable, it just doesn’t have that much variety in the playthrough. I only had a handful of torments, and like 3 non-torment encounters.

Optimally, I want the game to have around 20 possible Torments per act, 5 Elites and 3 Bosses. Not all of these will appear in each act, of course, which will mean that each playthrough will be fairly unique from the different encounters and their order.

Unfortunately, this amount of content is difficult to come up with. I am constantly struggling to come up with interesting ideas on my own, but effort has been ongoing, and I’ve also been getting some ideas from the peeps in discord and matrix.

So today, finally finished 10th different Torment, and this one might just be the most unsettling of them all. The Baby

Of course, this being a dream, you’re not fighting a baby. The dreamer you guide through, if simply dreaming of having to take care of one. And as it happens in dreams, this can be quite a stressful procedure.

Along that, I have also discovered the art of David Revoy which is primarily given under CC, and it had some pieces which inspired 3 new Torments. A Squirrel, The Light Calling and Pialephant. Phobias, Existentialism and Absurdity. Good stuff. Check out their comic Pepper & Carrot btw. It’s incredibly cute!

Along with the new Torments, we also have 9 NCEs, or 12 if you count their follow-ups (Some NCEs will unlock new NCEs). Including the Doll Maker and the Pop Psychologist.

This gives me now, I think a good amount of content for the first act

Plus I also found even more unsettling art for the existing Torments which didn’t have any. I love me some artbreeder!

So I think I can start work on the second act. I just need to come up with more disturbing ideas. Got any :D
